Description of our Regular Meetings
The Lords Supper
Each Sunday morning, we gather to remember the Lord Jesus Christ, and observe the Lord’s Supper. Central to this meeting is the symbols instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself – bread to remind us of his body, and wine to remind us of his blood. Taken together, these simple but vivid symbols remind us of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. Following His own instructions in Luke 22:19, we’re simply “remembering Him.” There is nothing complicated about this meeting, and it’s generally very simple. In keeping with the biblical pattern, various brethren guided simply by the Spirit of God will lead in worship until the bread and cup are distributed to those in the local fellowship. Congregational singing of traditional hymns, individual worship in the form of prayer, and the reading of God’s word are central to the remembrance meeting. As part of worship, an offering will be taken for the Lord’s work, however as a visitor you will not be solicited. While all are invited to observe the Lord’s Supper, as the scripture teaches, sharing in the bread and wine is only for those who are in the fellowship of the assembly or visiting from a similarly gathered local fellowship. (Romans 16:1-2)
We have a deep concern for our young people, and a desire to see them not only grow and develop into wonderful adults, but more importantly to see them accept Christ as their own personal Savior. Our Sunday School classes range from Pre-K through college, and are based on a small, intimate learning environment. Our teachers seek to lay a basic, biblical foundation for life in the young people, with an emphasis on their need of a Savior, and the absolute Christian joy that follows a personal relationship with Christ. Adult Ministry Meeting
Our Ministry Meeting for adults follows the Worship Meeting on Sunday mornings, and runs concurrently with Sunday School, for approximately 40 minutes. Responsible brethren take up God’s Word, drawing applicable truths and principles from it, and applying them to our everyday lives and Christian service.
Our Gospel Meeting is held on Sunday evening from 6:30-7:30pm. Typically two speakers will each present Gospel truths from God’s Word, for about 25 minutes each. These messages are based on the biblical principles of Mans Ruin in Sin, God’s Remedy through his Son, and Man’s free-will responsibility to trust in that completed remedy.
The gospel that we preach is that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures”, that “he was buried and that he rose again on the third day according to the scriptures” (1Corinthians 15:3-4). The bible teaches that there must be a personal experience of discovering our guiltiness before God as sinners and accepting Christ as personal Savior and Lord. This is accomplished only by genuine personal faith in what Christ has accomplished for us, and trusting that God is, as he has said, satisfied with that work. Prayer Meeting / Bible Study
On Thursday evenings, from 7:30-8:45 we gather for a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. The Prayer Meeting usually runs from 7:30 to about 8:10, after which the scripture for that evening is outlined and discussed in a conversational format.
Offsite Outreach Meetings
On Wednesdays we hold an outreach gospel session onsite at a local women’s drug rehabilitation and recovery center. The format is sometimes traditional preaching, but more often a conversational gospel message, with extensive participation and discussion.
